Jerry Amaldev, Harisree Ashokan, Meccartin grace orientation ceremony; foundation stone laid for new shooting floor
Kochi: The 2026–27 academic year at Don Bosco Film School commenced with ‘Ignite 2026’, the annual induction ceremony, on Wednesday.
Music director Jerry Amaldev, actor Harisree Ashokan, director Meccartin, Fr Kuttungal Varghese (Rector, Don Bosco Vennala), Fr Dickson Eugene (Director, Don Bosco Film School), Fr Vadakkethala Noble (Principal), and Antony Sony (Head of Direction Department) jointly inaugurated the function by lighting the traditional lamp.
New students admitted across various disciplines—including Film Direction, Cinematography, Editing, Sound Design, Visual Effects, Music Production, and B.Voc Filmmaking—were formally welcomed. Addressing the gathering, Antony Sony highlighted the importance of students pursuing cinema out of genuine passion and commended parents for supporting their children’s creative ambitions.
Music Production senior students paid a musical tribute to Jerry Amaldev, following which the veteran composer delighted the audience by rendering his iconic melody “Aayiram Kannumaay” at the keyboard. Harisree Ashokan shared insights from his acting career, while Meccartin held an interactive session on the fundamentals of storytelling and screenwriting.
Marking a key expansion milestone for the institution, the chief guests also inaugurated the construction of a new shooting floor on the campus.
